Tooth Fairy Rides Again

The Tooth Fairy made her second visit to our house. I was expecting it to be for our boy's second tooth, but no...it was for our girl's FIRST tooth! Our boy was in first grade before he lost his first tooth, but our girl is in Pre-K and she lost her first one this weekend. We were NOT expecting it!
I'm not sure she was ready either. I just pulled it a little and it came right out in my hand. She cried and cried saying, "I didn't want you to pull it."

I didn't think I'd ever get her picture with her new smile, but she finally gave me this one:

Good thing Mrs. Shelly had given her this Tooth Fairy pillow for a baby gift. We were ready for the Tooth Fairy after all.

Kite Home Project

Tonight our girl had a "Home Project" homework assignment for her Pre-K class. Here are the instructions:

The Tail of a Kite

Animals have tails. Shirts have tails. People can even wear ponytails. But, do kites have tails? Of course! Your child is bringing home a shape of a typical kite. Please have him/her carefully cut the kite. Then, as a family, work to turn this dull white kite into...

a beautiful kite with a design of their choice and a long patterned tail. Sample ideas:

-paint it
-fill it in with torn construction paper
-make a design or picture with tissue paper
-create a collage
-decorate it like an animal that has a tail
-or your own idea

This project is right up our girl's ally...she LOVES creating! So...off she went to get her paints, and here's how it turned out:

After she was finished painting, she went to her room to play. I checked on her asking, "What about the kite's tail?"
She responded saying, "It's a family project. You do it. Show it to me when it's done."

What?????
Needless to say...it did not go down like that!

Not cool-who knew?

Hubby was watching Holmes on Homes the other morning when our girl came to join him. BTW-Love that show!!

So...our girl whispers to Hubby..."Does he have something on his ear?"

Hubby: "Yes. It's an earring."

Our girl: "I think he lost one."

Hubby: "Well...I don't know if he should wear any. You won't see Daddy wear one."

Our girl: "That's because you're not cool. You have to be like in a rock band to wear one."

How do five year olds get this information??

Book Character Day

This week we had Book Character Day in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday on March 2. We had a hard time coming up with costumes for the kids, but we finally pulled it together.
Here's our girl as Cinderella:

Here's our boy as a dog from Doggone Dogs:
