Things that made me smile this weekend

I found these "FAMILY" blocks at TJ Maxx. They make me smile with them on our mantel. I think I'll make them photo blocks adding family pictures on the sides in my "free time."
Hubby painted our door black coming into the house from the garage. I got this idea on a few blogs, and I like the result-smile!
Our daughter and her friend had the best time dancing at the football game. I missed the cheerleaders half-time show because I was too busy smiling while I watched these girls:
We stumbled upon a festival-type event in town. The kids had a great time! Check out the ice cream shop in the background--there are even sprinkles on the roof-smile!

The kids got to try out spin-art at the event--fun!

Now...this car tag made our son smile the biggest, but come on--who doesn't want to smile when they see this tag? By the way--Georgia really does have a Butts County!

Red + Yellow=Orange

Here's a painting that our girl brought home from school. She said she made the painting with different sizes of cups. She also pointed out the top corner where she mixed the red and yellow paints to make orange.

Almost

This weekend was our school's first home football game. It was also Hubby's birthday. Happy Birthday to him! So...at the game...they said anyone with a number on their seat cushion should come to the field to try to win free Chick-fil-a for a year. Hubby had a number on his cushion (on his birthday)...so on the field he went! The "game" was to find the cow on the football field while blind-folded. The cow had an air horn to help find him. Well...Hubby ALMOST won...see how close he was??
Here's a pic of the kids cheering him on...see our son...the pressure was getting to him!

Here's a glimpse of how old Hubby really is now...he was trying on cover-alls this weekend! Well...thankfully they just reminded him of his maternal grandfather...and was having a little fun giving them a try. You should have seen us trying to get a photo to document his antics--everywhere we turned there were people shopping--getting in the way of a great coverall pic. Now our son really wants a pair of them...why? we asked...he said he needs them to paint. Interesting.
Check out our evening tonight...Our girl is always wanting to paint her feet and hands. So here she is post-painting tonight:
We painted hands and feet...she was so happy:
Our boy got in on the action too...here's his project:

Tomorrow is jeans day at school--------YIPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you know what that means??? I'm not ironing ANYTHING tonight--YIPPY YIPPY YIPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everybody is out of uniform to support our football team--so 2 of the 3 Sweet Teas and me will be in jeans and t-shirts in the morning. Fun with the cousins

This weekend the kids' got to visit with their cousins from TX. They had the best time with lots of fun at Nana and Papa's. They tried out the Mentos experiment, threw the football, frosted cupcakes, watched a movie, and played games: Battleship, Clue, and checkers. Basically...just having fun with their cousins. Here are some pics from the day:

Back to "Normal"

This week the kids and I are back in school. So...we're back to a "normal" school schedule. Goodbye sleeping late (or at least 8am). Hello waking up at way-too-early-hours.

Today our school invited all of the parents to eat breakfast with the kids at school. Hubby is off work on Wednesdays so...he got up early to come eat with the kids. Here are some pics of the kids after breakfast before they went to class. Both kids told their daddy that they wanted to walk to class by themselves--so independent! Hubby was sad not to be needed...he talked them in to letting him walk them to the door of their classrooms.

Our house is getting back to "normal" too. The furniture is starting to move back in place.
Here's the breakfast area with the curtains.

Here's the family room:

No thanks tax-free weekend

Today after church we decided it would be a good idea to get our girl some new school shoes. Whoa--did you go out in the craziness that some refer to as "tax-free weekend?" I'm talking extreme craziness here. I told my sister tonight that I would rather pay double tax than go through that craziness again! Well...we did get some new school shoes...
and we also got some free waffle coupons from Waffle House--that almost made it worth the trouble of fighting the crowds/traffic/craziness. Waffle House had a booth set up collecting donations for breast cancer-nice! The kids got some lemonade and awesome hats too!
Our girl also got a new headband for school. She said she was going to sleep with it tonight, but she forgot it.

This weekend we also had to re-evaluate the green apple paint in the kitchen. It made you say whoa every time you saw it...so we changed it to Behr's Grass Cloth green. Here's Hubby painting the grass cloth over the green apple:
Here's how it looks now...not as shocking..and goes with our cabinets more...so we're not as in as big of a rush to re-do them now. I'll post some pics with the curtains back up soon.
Hubby also completed painting the family room:
Now...off to iron and get ready for the 1st day of school. Whoa-goodbye summer!
