4801 jingle

When I was growing up, there was a muffler shop (or some kind of car repair business) that had a jingle for their commercial. "That's 48-0-1, that's 48-0-1, that's 48-0-1 Buuuuuuuuuuu--ford Hiiiiiiiigh-way." Well...today we drove by 4801 Buford Highway...so I had to take a picture.

We had the kids singing the jingle over and over too. It's just that kind of jingle--the kind that sticks in your head years later, and you can't forget it no matter how hard you try! We were in Sam's Club, and our boy was singing it over and over. Another guy overheard him singing and said..."I haven't heard that in years."

How about it...does anyone else out there from Atlanta remember that jingle?? I have a feeling that 4801 Buford Highway has seen a lot of changes since the last time I heard that jingle on the radio:

hahaha! found this on a Google search of '4801 Buford Highway.' Obviously, I grew up in Atlanta and jingle pops into my head every so often (I was looking up directions somewhere when I saw a Buford Hwy address and that's all it took)! Since I couldn't remember what was at the location I wanted to try and find out. The two commercials I remember the most are this one and the Wolfman...."ask for the Wolfman...ask for Donna." I actually met the Wolfman a few times...at Ryan's steakhouse and the N. GA State Fair - really a very nice guy. Anyways, thanks for post!

I lived in Chamblee and I'm in Northern Ohio now. I still walk around every now & then singing that stupid jingle. Our family was just talking about it...none of us could remember what it was for but we all agree we'll go to our graves being able to sing it.

incredible jingle. Used to hear it on the car radio every day in the early 80s as my dad drove me to school.

That's Automan Transmission, that's Automan Transmission, that's 4801, that's 4801, that's 4801 Buford Hiiiiiwaaaaay!!!!

I remember singing that jingle a million times listening to the radio in mom's car on the way to OLA for school. Z93, 94Q, and mostly PEACH 94.9. And there was the AJC classified ads commercial "five seven seven five seven seven two, baby baby baby that's you, sell it baby, in the journal and constitution".

I'm SO glad to know I'm not the only one who randomly catches himself singing that song. I was in Atlanta from 88 to 95, so for me, it's that, and that darn woman singing the Paul Coverdale campaign song...

I loved that jingle! One time my wife and I were driving south on Buford Hwy, looking for a particular odd-numbered address... I was calling them out... 4823... 4817... 4805... 4801... "Hey!!! Look! It's 4801!" It was a big deal, I tellya.

I remember it well. I moved from Atlanta in '93, and that catchy little jingle is still stuck in my head. Does anyone remember the audio track they played on the radio, i forget what station, on Friday afternoon. "It's Friday, Friiiiday....the key board felt like needles on your fingers, the dictation machines were telling us what to do..." it went something like that.
