Somebody is 5 years old!

Yep--our baby is 5 years old!!

She had a fun party at our church. Here she is rolling in the grass on the playground....whoa--rolling makes you d*i*z*z*y!

How about some pin-the-tail-on-the-cat?
How about a decorate-your-own-cupcake? See the eyes and candy-corn hair? I love how she's laughing here while everyone is singing Happy Birthday to her! She can be a shy girl!

The birthday girl let me hold her on the sofa and tell her stories of how we loved and kissed on her 5 years ago when we brought her home from the hospital! It's so hard to believe that she's already 5!

Happy Birthday! We love you soooooooooooooooo much!

yummy memory

My sister always tells me that I don't remember anything from my childhood, but when I saw these "Tootsie Pop Drops" for sale...I was like..."Hey...I remember those from when we were kids!" Yum-a tootsie pop drop--no stick...just yummy candy drops! Do you remember something yummy from your childhood that you haven't seen lately?

C-cret Ingredient Chili

Tonight was the Chili Cook-Off at school. Kindergarten entered a "C-cret Ingredient" chili as the "Pampered Chefs" (pampered as in spa-like...not as in the cooking tool company). See our robes...yep...it's our pampered wear! We also have on our pink chefs hats and our nametags. You can't see it, but we had on flip flops with pedicure toe sponges too! I won't reveal the actual "C-cret ingredients of the chili," but I will tell you that they all begin with the letter C.

We didn't place in the top 3 in the competition, but we ran a close 4th place. We were just happy to get one vote, but I think we actually earned at least 12 votes-yippy! If there had been a vote for the biggest hearts in the competition, I feel sure we would have taken first place--just check out our decorations for our 3ft. table space:

Check out our framed sign with our name on it. We had a bamboo tree and ferns too! We even had a chair for a "Free Massage" (with fine print at the bottom reading--with a vote for our chili!)while you snacked on our chocolates! We had to share our table with another competitor team serving "pumpkin chili"--so you see their decorations too.
We went through 2 crock pots of chili...must have been those c-cret ingredients!
It's times like these that I'm reminded of how much I miss friends! Christy would have added such a sparkle to our competition! I know she would've helped by talking up our chili to all the tasters. Dawn would've been sooooooooooooooo proud of our decorations and mood music playing. Megan-remember all those Chili Cookoffs at the Flat? We would've been dangerous with one of those 12 ft. tables from back in the day to decorate! Good times!
It's also times like these that I'm thankful for family! Thank you to DoDo, EJ, and Hubby for making today/tonight fun for the kids while I was at the Cook-Off! Ya'll are the BEST!

No Dawgs Allowed

Let me start by saying that Hubby and I are both graduates of UGA. In fact, we met on campus there 17 years ago this fall.

Well...having said that...we had "college day" at school during our Homecoming Week festivities. Look at our girl and boy...what???? Are there no Dawgs allowed in this house??? They're supporting their aunt's and uncle's schools instead. Maybe it had something to do with the loss to LSU.

Well...let's give them 1/2 credit. Our girl doesn't currently have any Georgia swag...I know...what kind of fan am I? Our son...however...has UGA jerseys in several sizes.

So...last night and this morning...I tried and tried to get him to wear his nice jersey for college day...he wouldn't have it! When we got to school, his "girl friend" from last year had on her UGA jersey. I told her that I tried to get our boy to wear his too this morning. Then she passed him in the hall "looking at him."

**Ok...rewind in time here---last week our 1st grade son told us that he "switched girls." He no longer likes his "girl friend" from Kindergarten last year, but now likes a girl that smiles at him and says hi at lunch (she also goes to our church....and she also happens to be in 5th grade!!...she is a pretty girl BTW).

Now back to this morning...after our son passed his "girl friend" from Kindergarten in the hall before school started...he came into my classroom saying, "Mom...did you tell her that I switched girls? She was looking at me!" To which I replied..."No son, I just told her you wouldn't wear your jersey." Sheesh!!!

"All Skate, All Skate"

Growing up, my sister and I always went to our elementary school skating parties with our dad. I remember the local skating rink had a light up board that would designate who could skate after they announced it on the intercom: ladies only, all skate, etc. They also had a light up dance floor there that we thought was really cool! Hubby said that he and his sister used to "tear up" the skating rink every Friday night when he was young too!

This morning our kids were invited to a birthday party at a skating rink. Let's just say that 4 and 6 might be a little early age for "All Skate." They really did pretty well, and I think if they had a couple more times on skates they'd be pros! They had a great time!

So...one party down, and one party to go...they have another BD party late this afternoon. Hubby is looking forward to it because they're having catering by The Varsity. Hopefully, we'll all have enough energy left to carry us through!
